Uzbekistan intends to direct $470 million for expansion of production of new building materials types in 2014-2016,

Uzbekistan intends to direct $470 million for expansion of production of new building materials types in 2014-2016, according to the 'Uzbuildmaterials' Joint Stock Company (JSC), which unites enterprises operating in this industry.

It is planned to implement over 1,500 projects during the next three years, including 1,380 projects worth $346 million for creation of new enterprises dealing with production of construction materials that previously were not produced in the country.

In total it is planned to start production of about 400 kinds of new goods, including architectural glass, materials for finishing works, profile-moulded elements made from polymer and substrates for roofing materials.

The program will be financed with loans of Uzbek and foreign banks, as well as enterprises' own funds.

Over the past seven years the 'Uzbuildmaterials' JSC has implemented over 120 projects worth about $100 million to accelerate industry's development and create new types of building materials, according to the company.

The construction materials production in Uzbekistan in 2013 increased by 13.6 percent compared with 2012, while the specific weight of industry output in the total industry production stood at 6.4 percent, according to the statistics.

The volume of construction materials imports last year increased by 9.6 percent, reaching $2.25 billion.

'Uzbuildmaterials' JSC includes over 110 companies, producing more than 100 kinds of basic construction products.
