Potato prices rise 207 per cent in Iran

The Central Bank of Iran's latest report suggests that potato prices have increased by 207 per cent in the past 12 months, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on Feb. 26.

Prices of 11 groups of food have risen in Iran in the week to Feb. 21 compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to the report, the prices of dairy products, egg, vegetables and fruits, chicken and sheep meet increased in that week.

However, the prices of cattle meat, sugar cubes and legumes faced a slight decrease.

The Iranian government plans to hand out a second food package by the end of the current calendar year.

Iran delivered the first food package in February.

On February 10, Iran's TASNIM News Agency quoted Vice President for Planning and Strategic Supervision Mohammad Baqer Nobakht as saying that the items of the second food package will not be changed
