The Georgian government and Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) have signed a framework agreement on cooperation.

From the Georgian side the document was signed by Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, while from the corporation's side it was signed by NEFCO Managing Director Magnus Rystedt and Senior Legal Counsel Tita Anttila.

NEFCO was established in 1990 by five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It finances projects in both the public and private sectors of several countries aimed at improving the environmental situation such as water supply and sewer systems, as well as the introduction of clean technology and the energy sector.

The corporation is interested in financing such projects in Georgia.

"Cooperation with such structures is very important for us. This gives us the opportunity to explore available resources where it is possible to realise quite significant investments including in the energy sector, in order to achieve energy efficiency. I believe this agreement will give us a good opportunity to integrate Georgia's economy and financial market to the European market," the Georgian finance minister said after signing the document.
