Coscom mobile operator (Scandinavian TeliaSonera's subsidiary in Uzbekistan, Ucell trademark) increased net revenues by 12.1 percent up to 786 million Swedish krona (about $119.6 million) in January-March 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, TeliaSonera reported on April 29.
The MOU index (used minutes per subscriber per month) in Ucell network was 297 minutes in the first quarter of this year compared to 277 minutes in the previous year, showing 7.2 percent growth.
EBITDA index (earnings before paying interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increased by 17.8 percent - to 451 million Swedish krona (about $68.6 million) in January-March. Marginality of transactions increased to 57.4 percent from 54.6 percent a year earlier.
Ucell subscriber base totaled 8.463 million customers in the reporting period compared to 7.973 million customers a year ago (a 6.2 percent growth), according to TeliaSonera.
COSCOM LLC was founded in 1996. In July 2007, Fintur Holdings BV, controlled by TeliaSonera, acquired 100 percent of the assets of the U.S. MCT Corp, which owned the packages of Coscom's shares.
The operator has been rendering the mobile communications services in Uzbekistan under the Ucell trademark since June 2008. Ucell launched 3G in February 2009, 4G in Tashkent based on Long-Term Evolution technology (LTE) in July 2010.
Currently, TeliaSonera owns 94 percent stake of the operator, the Uzbek minority shareholders - six percent.
