There is a shortage of hotel rooms in Georgia, and in order to eliminate it, more than 10,000 rooms are needed, head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, Giorgi Sigua told Azerbaijani journalists in Tbilisi.

"Hotels are filled by 75-80 percent per year, which is significantly high. The hotels of Batumi and Tbilisi are filled 100 percent in summer. Therefore, given the fact that demand exceeds supply, the hotel business in Georgia is profitable," he said.

In total, the number of tourists in Georgia exceeds the population of the country, according to the administration head. Some four million people live in Georgia,, and some 5.4 million tourists visited the country in 2013.

"Six million tourists are expected in Georgia this year," Sigua said.

The administration head also recalled that, in 2013 Georgia was ahead of all European countries in terms of tourism growth. This applies not only to increase in the number of tourists, but also growth of occupancy rates co-efficient, economic income from international tourism, the share of tourism in GDP and other factors.

To engage in business in Georgia is very simple, he said.

"We are in eighth place in the ranking of the World Bank (WB) on "Doing Business". Any document, including passport, driver's license or others can be issued in an hour at the Justice Ministry. You can just pay a little more to speed up the procedure. Company can be registered in two hours," Sigua said.

Furthermore, there are free travel zones in Georgia, where investors - both local and foreign, have built hotels, presented lands free of charge. Also, investors are exempted from taxes for 15 years.

Sigua further noted Georgia will host a series of grand events, festivals in the summer of 2014 that are planned to become annual. In particular, the founders of electronic music festival "Kazantip", which was previously held in the Crimea, will organize similar festival in the Georgian resort of Anaklia on August 20-30. The festival will be called "Gamarjoba project zet republic", and it is planned that it will become an annual event. The festival will feature more than 300 of the most popular DJs in the world, world stars, Georgian representatives, as well as various types of extreme sports. It is expected that the guests of the annual festival will be more than 100,000 people.

"It is planned to implement several similar projects," he added.
