"Uzbekinvest" National Export - Import Insurance Company, the largest insurance company in Uzbekistan won the tender for the right to carry out insurance of the "Uzbekistan Airways" National Airline aircrafts, the aircraft carrier told Trend.
"Following the open tender for provision of insurance services of "Uzbekistan Airways" NAC aircrafts and airline liability in 2014-2015, the tender commission adopted the decision on the recognition of the tender winner as the Uzbekinvest" National Export - Import Insurance Company, "UzbekInvest"", the NAC representative said.
As previously reported, in April, the "Uzbekistan Airways" NAC announced a tender among insurers for the right to insure the aircrafts under the ownership of the company.
In accordance with the tender terms, the insurer of the aircrafts of the Western and Russian production ("West" and "East" fleets) was determined for the next period of insurance. The period is set from 15 June 2014 to 14 June 2015 for western aircrafts, and from 12 July 2014 to 11 July 2015 for Russian production.
The tender was attended by the insurers licensed by the Ministry of Finance for the aviation insurance and liability insurance within the frame of aviation insurance.
"Uzbekistan Airways" NAC the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan, is wholly owned by the state. Uzbekistan Airways fleet currently consists of 31 aircraft of western production, including 13 Boeing (four 767-300, five 757-200 and four 767-300-ER), thirteen Airbus (three A-310 and ten A-320 -200 ), three medium haul aircrafts RJ-85 and two cargo Airbus A300-600F.
"Uzbekistan Airways" NAC- the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan - carries out flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, in 22 cities of CIS countries and 11 destinations on local airlines.
In 2013, the "Uzbekistan Airways" NAC fulfilled 24,600 of flights and transported 2.677 million passengers (an increase compared with 2012 by 1.6 percent). The volume of cargo transportation (including excess baggage) was 41,000 tonnes against 40,000 tonnes a year earlier.
The largest Uzbek insurance company "UzbekInvest" has been operating in the republic since 1994. The company is a state export-import insurance agency and carries out all types of general insurance in the domestic market.
The authorized capital of the company is $60 million. The founders of the "Uzbekinvest" are the Uzbek Finance Ministry (83.3 percent) and the Uzbek National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity (16.7 percent).
In 2013, UzbekInvest collected insurance premiums in the amount of 44.13 billion, which is 2.2 times more than in 2012, and the payment of insurance reimbursement increased 3.2 times - up to 26.79 billion soums.
The official exchange rate on June 23 is 2308.39 soums / $ 1.
