A new cotton processing plant was launched in the Makhtaaral district of the South Kazakhstan region, the official web-site of regional authorities said on July 8.

The new plant is equipped with super-modern equipment operating at high speed which will increase productivity by 20-25 percent, reduce production costs, and make the products more qualitative.

The plant's capacity is up to 450 tonnes of raw cotton per day, and 60,000 tonnes per year.

The plant is worth one billion tenge (183.52 tenge = $1) and its construction was paid for by private investors. But, the state has constructed engineering networks around the plant since it was included in the Industrialization Map.

The plant employs 150 local workers.

Within the state program, more cotton processing plants will be built in the future in the South Kazakhstan region.
