Iran exported 6.62 million tonnes of cement and clinker in the 4-month period from March 21 (Iran's fiscal year starts on March 21), Abdolreza Sheykhan, an official with the Iran's Cement Producers Association said.
Cement exports accounted for 4.836 million tonnes of the mentioned amount, Sheykhan said, Iran's official IRIB news agency reported on Aug. 16.
Only in the 4th Iranian calendar month (June 22- July 22) the country exported 1.086 million tonnes of cement and 463,500 tonnes of clinker to the foreign countries.
Some 18.719 million tonnes of cement was also consumed domestically in the mentioned period.
Iran's cement output stood at 23.8 million tonnes during the four-month period, indicating an increase of 5.7 million tonnes compared to the output in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
The country produced 69.46 million tonnes of cement in the past fiscal year, a 0.9 percent fall year on year.
Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Iraq, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Gulf States are the main importers of the Iran's cement.
Sheykhan forecasted Iran's cement exports to hit 20.5 million tonnes during the 12-month period from March 2013 to March 2014(Iran's current fiscal year).
Iran exported 18.812 million tonnes of cement and clinker in the last fiscal year, which shows a 37.8 percent increase compared to the preceding year.
Cement accounted for 14.348 million tonnes of the mentioned amount.
