Most goods imported into Azerbaijan by railway

More than 24.718 million metric tons of cargo was transported by vehicles through the territory of Azerbaijan in January-August 2014, which is 8.42 percent less than in the same period of last year. The total cost of cargo transportation decreased by 9.2 percent - to $20.96 billion, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee's report says.

The export of goods for this period amounted to 19.34 million metric tons, imports - 5.38 million metric tons.

Around 135,794 metric tons of cargo was exported by ships, 1.72 million metric tons by trains, 358,277 metric tons by vehicles, 79,313 metric tons by planes. Around 17.038 million metric tons were transported by stationary vehicles in January-August. Around 0.12 metric tons of cargo was transported by mail compared to the zero index in 2013.

Around 1.2 million metric tons of cargo was imported to Azerbaijan by ships, 2.82 million metric tons by trains, 1.318 million metric tons by vehicles, 7,700 metric tons of cargo by planes. Stationary transport was not used while importing goods.

Around 1.28 metric tons for a total amount of $353,700 were brought into the country's territory by mail. These volumes decreased by 38.5 percent with an increase in the cost of the transported cargo by 16.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
