40 life prisoners go on termless hunger strike in Armenia
Around 40 life prisoners went on hunger strike in Armenia, chairperson of "Armenian Program of Innocence" Zaruhi Mejlumyan told the Armenian agency Tert.am.
"The life prisoners offer the Ministry of Justice to provide the opportunity to review the preventive measures in accordance with the amendments made to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia on May 25, 2011," she said. "This is a continuation of the hunger strike, announced in July. Then, the ministry assured the prisoners that the necessary actions will be taken within one month."
"After the negotiations, they suspended their hunger strike," she said.
