Monetary inflation hits 1.8% in Azerbaijan

The prices on consumer goods and tariffs for services increased by 1.1 percent in Azerbaijan in September 2014 compared to the previous month.

The prices on consumer goods and tariffs for services increased by 1.1 percent in Azerbaijan in September 2014 compared to the previous month. But the inflation was 1.5 percent in January-September 2013, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report as of the first nine months of 2014 says.

The annual inflation rate is 2.3 percent in the country in January-September 2013. It was 0.1 percent in September, the State Statistics Committee said.

The food prices reduced by 0.1 percent in August, while non-food items remained unchanged. The tariffs for services also remained unchanged.

The food prices increased by one percent, non-food items - by 3.6 percent and tariffs for services - by 0.4 percent in the first nine months of this year compared to January-September 2013.

In September, the base index of consumer prices, calculated except for the goods and services subject to seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) and the prices of which are regulated by the state, increased by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month and hit 1.8 percent compared to January-September 2013.

The food prices are different in Azerbaijan. The prices on flour, buckwheat, chicken, eggs, sunflower and corn oil, apples, pomegranates, grapes, chestnuts, pumpkin, sugar and granulated sugar reduced.

The prices on rice, pasta, beef and mutton, fish, sausages, butter, lemons, oranges, bananas, peaches, plums, watermelons, melons, walnuts, hazelnuts, cabbages, greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplants, beans, beets, carrots, garlic, onions and potatoes increased, the report says.

A decrease in air and rail passenger transportation tariffs in the CIS countries and an increase in passenger transportation tariffs on international flights was observed in September.
