Turkey successfully tested a second domestic drone named Bayraktar, work on which began in 2012, Turkish TV channel Kanal7 reported Nov.25.

The channel said the test flights were conducted at an altitude of 8,238 meters.

Previously, Turkey created its first ANKA UAV. Work on the creation of ANKA UAV has been conducted since 2004. The project employed about 180 engineers.

ANKA belongs to a class of medium-altitude devices with long flight duration. Compared with the Israeli Heron UAV, ANKA has several advantages. So, if the Heron can lift no more than 185 kilograms of payload to a height of 30,000 feet, ANKA has this figure exceeding 200 kilograms.

In recent years, the Turkish defense industry has been focused on the development and production of its own products.
