Turkmenistan is against the politicization of energy transportation issues, according to a report made by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the country's energy strategy.

"Politicization of energy transportation issues, using this tool as a political blackmail in interstate relations is inadmissible," Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said citing the report.

In his report, Turkmen president also emphasized that one of the key aspects of Turkmenistan's energy strategy is the diversification and expansion of the geography of export routes of supplying natural gas to world markets.

"The reliability and safety of international energy flows, legal security of energy supply routes have now become crucial," said the report.

The document states the need for developing a generally acceptable universal approach to this problem are clear, and immutable principles of relations between suppliers, transit countries and consumers of energy resources are becoming more and more apparent.

It is necessary to stick to reasonable, economically feasible prices for energy transportation on transit areas, the report said.

"Turkmenistan's position on this issue is firm and unchangeable - the prices for energy resources should be fair and economically feasible. At the same time, these prices should be formed based on clear and transparent principles," said the report. "Their artificial overpricing or underpricing, politicization, price collusion, unfair lobbying is unacceptable."

Turkmenistan holds one of the key positions in the region in terms of natural gas supply. The country exports its gas to Russia, China and Iran.
