ADB prepares new business plan in Azerbaijan till 2018

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has prepared a business plan for transactions in Azerbaijan for 2015-2017, the head of the ADB office in Baku Olly Norojono told reporters Dec. 22.

He said that the draft business plan is being considered by the country's government.

"We expect the government's decision on the business plan in January 2015," he said.

Norojono added that currently, a business plan covering 2014-2016 is being implemented. There are no significant differences between the two documents.

He said that the ADB's main goal in Azerbaijan is to assist in the transition to the diversified economy.

As for the activity of the bank in the country in 2014, Norojono said that this year it has been mainly focused on the development of the transport and energy sectors, water supply, sewerage system reconstruction.

"ADB approved two loans for road projects worth $295 million in 2014," he said. "In general, this year the government has signed contracts worth $231 million, which is 20 percent more than the bank's expectations."

Currently, the ADB's active portfolio on Azerbaijan is $1.224 billion.
