By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

About 929.4 million cubic meters of gas was extracted from underground storage within the gas extraction season in Azerbaijan, a source in the SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) told Trend Dec.30.

Azerbaijan has two underground gas storages facilities, Kalmaz and Garadagh, which are on the balance of SOCAR.

Some 525.84 million cubic meters of the total volume of gas extracted from the storage, fell on Garadagh, and 403.54 million cubic meters on Kalmaz storage facility, according to the source.

Currently, daily extraction of gas from underground storage facilities is 13.3 million cubic meters.

"This year is practically over, but the volumes of gas extraction did not exceed 1 billion cubic meters," said the source. "The residual volumes of gas in both storage facilities slightly exceed 2.3 billion cubic meters, more than 1.22 billion of which account for Garadagh, and about 1.08 billion cubic meters for Kalmaz gas storage."

At the end of last pumping season, the residual volumes of gas in underground storage exceeded 3.23 billion cubic meters (1.75 billion cubic meters in Garadagh storage, 1.48 billion cubic meters in Kalmaz storage), compared to about 3.43 billion cubic meters at the end of the previous season.

At the end of the extraction season, the residual amounts of gas in underground storage amounted to nearly 1.38 billion cubic meters (746.43 million cubic meters in Garadagh storage and nearly 630.6 million cubic meters in Kalmaz storage).

The country's underground storages allow the storage of nearly 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
