Iran’s private sector to invest $320M in water and wastewater projects

Iran's private sector is planed to invest 11 trillion rials (about $320 million) in the country's water and wastewater projects.

Hamidreza Janbaz, Managing Director of Iran's Water and Wastewater Company, said that the Energy Ministry has signed contracts worth 32 trillion rials (about $920 million) with the private sector so far, and it is predicted that new contracts worth 11 trillion rials to be signed in the near future, Iran's IRIB reported on Jan. 11.

He added the water and wastewater industry is facing with a shortage of financial resources.

Iranian Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said in September 2014 that the government is trying to facilitate the private sector's investment in national projects.

"The government is trying to help the private sector to construct more factories," he said.
