Iran's South Pars gas field phases 17 and 18 started injecting refined gas into the national network.

Some 12 million cubic meters of refined gas is being injected to the national network daily, Iran's Shana news agency reported on Jan. 11.

Phases 17 and 18 are projected to produce 50 million cubic meters of gas, 80,000 barrels of condensates, and 400 tons of sulfur per day.

The two phases are also projected to produce 12.5 million cubic meters of refined gas, but the volume is predicted to exceed 25 million cubic meters by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015).

Iran's oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has said that the country plans to pump up natural gas production at South Pars gas field by 100 million cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2014).

South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar's territorial waters.

The gas field is estimated to hold a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world's reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
