Azerbaijan's non-oil economy increases by over 5.5%

A total volume of Azerbaijan's GDP amounted to 3.6 billion AZN in January 2015 or by 4.4 percent more than in the same period of 2014, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report said.

The nominal GDP growth dropped by 0.8 percent.

GDP per capita made up 383.2 AZN ($488.5) or by 17.7 percent less than in 2014, the report said.

Some 48 percent was formed in the field of production during this period. The value added share generated in industry makes up 34 percent, construction was 10.6 percent, agriculture, forestry and fishery was 3.4 percent.

Net taxes on products and imports amounted to 10 percent of Azerbaijan's GDP.

Around 42 percent of GDP accounted for the sector of services, 10.3 percent - trade and repair of vehicles, 6.6 percent - transport and warehousing, 2.9 percent - tourist accommodation and catering sphere, 2.4 percent - the information and communication services, 19.8 percent - social and other services.

The non-oil sector of the economy increased by 5.5 percent compared to the same period of 2014. Its share in the country's GDP hit 70.5 percent. The volume of value added production in the oil and gas extraction and processing hit 29.5 percent of GDP.

The growth in this sector was 3.1 percent compared to January 2014.

The volume of value added production in Azerbaijan`s construction sector increased by 11.9 percent, tourist accommodation and catering - 13.2 percent, information and communication services - 13.9 percent, trade and repair of vehicles - 9.4 percent, transport and warehousing - 5.3 percent, social and other services - 1 percent, agriculture, forestry and fishery - 3.5 percent in January 2015 compared to 2014.

The official exchange rate is 0.7853 AZN/USD on Feb. 17.
