Cotton sowing begins in Turkmenistan

Cotton sowing has started in Turkmenistan, the country's Ministry of Agriculture said on March 23.
This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. During that meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov stressed the importance of following all norms of agronomical practice.
Holding this campaign on time plays an important role in getting bountiful harvest, according to the head of state.
Cotton sowing in Ahal, Lebap and Mary provinces will start on March 27 and in Dashoguz province on April 3.
Cotton is the main product exported by Turkmenistan and is a sought after raw material for tens of modern enterprises developing dynamically in the country's textile industry.
Ashgabat hosts the international fair of cotton products of Turkmenistan every year. The total area allocated for cotton sowing is over 500,000 hectares.
