Uzbekistan announces tender for modernization of accounting system of natural gas

The National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz has announced a tender for the project "Introduction of the automated systems of control and accounting of natural gas in Tashkent and Tashkent region," said a message published in the local press.

The deadline for submitting tender documents is June 8, 2015.

The message doesn't mention the starting price of tender bids and doesn't disclose the terms of the project.

Tender clients are Uzbekneftegaz and Uztransgaz JSC (a part of Uzbekneftegaz).

The project "Introduction of the automated systems of control and accounting of natural gas in Tashkent and Tashkent region" worth $327.7 million has been included in the republican investment program for 2015.

The project provides for installation of 1.04 million units of remote accounting of gas on the networks of low pressure for domestic sector in Tashkent and Tashkent region, as well as creation of a billing system and related communications.

It is planned to finance the project, which should be implemented by 2018, at the expense of Uzbekneftegaz and Uztransgaz, loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan in the amount of $100 million and loans from international financial institutions.

Subsequently, similar systems of automated accounting of natural gas for household consumers are planned to be deployed throughout the country.

Uzbekistan ranks third among the CIS countries on natural gas production and is among the ten largest gas-producing countries of the world. Every year, the country produces about 60 billion cubic meters of gas, a part of which is exported to China and Russia.
