Demand for Russian ruble increasing in Kazakhstan

The demand for Russian ruble has increased in Kazakhstan, Ranking.kz analytical service said.

The exchange offices in Kazakhstan sold Russian currency for 81.6 Kazakhstani tenge ($185.95 tenge = $1) in April 2015, or 10.5 percent more than in March, said the analytical service.

In terms of the sales volume, Russian ruble exceeded euro by 3.6 times. The exchange offices in Kazakhstan sold euro for 22.6 billion tenge in April.

The biggest gap between the demand for the ruble and euro was recorded in the provinces of East Kazakhstan (17 times), West Kazakhstan (14.5 times), and Aktobe (12.6 times).

The highest growth rate of sales of Russian currency in April was recorded in the provinces of South Kazakhstan (more than doubled - 2.1 billion tenge), Karaganda (48.4 percent - 5.8 billion tenge) and Mangistau (40.8 percent - 2.6 billion tenge).

The maximum amount of the purchase of Russian ruble in April was recorded in Almaty (for 14.2 billion tenge), Astana (12 billion tenge) and East Kazakhstan region (10.2 billion tenge).
