Air ticket prices in Iran to be liberalized by March 2016
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 10
By Fatih Karimov - Trend:
Air ticket prices in Iran will be liberalized by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 2016).
Ali Abedzadeh, head of Iran Civil Aviation Organization, said the decision has been made to make activities of airlines economically justifiable, IRIB reported on October 10.
This will also improve quality of services, he added.
According to the fifth five-year economic development plan (2010-2015), the government was supposed to liberalize the prices of domestic flight tickets in the third year of the plan within the framework of the subsidy reform plan.
Last summer saw a 30 percent rise when the first steps were taken toward introduction of the policy.
The Civil Aviation Organization is planning to update its memorandums of understanding with other countries in order to boost the number of weekly flights with equal shares of flights for the two sides.
Some 65 percent of regional and international flights are made by domestic airlines.
