An annex to the previously signed Uzbek-Swiss double taxation avoidance agreement has come into force in Uzbekistan.
The annex makes it possible for Uzbekistan and Switzerland to expand the exchange of taxing area information, said the Uzbek Foreign Ministry Oct. 20.
Earlier, a protocol to amend the agreement between Uzbekistan and Switzerland, for the avoidance of double taxation on income and capital, was signed in July 2014 in Bern.
With the new annex the agreement gets new provisions aimed at enhancing the effective mechanisms for information exchange in taxation in order to prevent tax evasion.
"This international agreement will contribute to strengthening the Uzbek-Swiss cooperation in the fight against tax offences and ensuring the compliance with the two countries' tax laws," said the ministry.
