Production of incandescent lamps over 40 watts will be stopped in Uzbekistan starting from July 1, 2016, and their sale will also be stopped starting from January 1, 2017, said the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan "On measures to expand domestic production of energy-saving lamps".

The cases when mandatory requirements on the use of incandescent light bulbs are defined by the manufacturers of technological units, motor vehicles, educational, medical and other special equipment, will become an exception, according to the document.

The decree provides that in 2015-2019, the enterprises of Uzbekistan will produce 15.7 million energy-saving lamps and lighting fixtures for the domestic use, as well as in outdoor and industrial lighting.

In particular, it is planned to produce 6.6 million energy-saving lamps in Uzbekistan before late 2015.

Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers also approved measures on reduction of energy consumption, introduction of energy saving technologies and systems in the fields of economy and social sphere for 2015-2019.

The ministry of economy, Uzeltekhsanoat (Uzeltekhprom) JSC, which unites enterprises of electrical industry of Uzbekistan, as well as local administrations, were instructed to develop a complex of measures on modernization of outdoor lighting of regional centers and major cities in 2016-2019.

Only energy-saving lamps and energy-efficient electrical appliances should be used starting from July 2016 during the design of social facilities of industrial and civil use, as well as outdoor lighting in the city and regional centers.
