WizzAir to carry out regular Baku-Budapest flights (UPDATE)

Azerbaijan’s State Civil Aviation Administration and Hungarian-Polish low-cost airline WizzAir have agreed to resume the regular flights on Budapest-Baku-Budapest route.

Azerbaijan's State Civil Aviation Administration and Hungarian-Polish low-cost airline WizzAir have agreed to resume the regular flights on Budapest-Baku-Budapest route.

For this purpose, WizzAir and Ground Handling Company have signed an agreement on handling of flights.

From the Azerbaijani side, the agreement was signed by the head of the Ground Handling Company Ilgar Alakbarov and from WizzAir - the company's CEO Jozsef Varadi.

Based on the signed agreement, WizzAir will start regular flights on Budapest-Baku-Budapest route from March 27 2016, according to Varadi.

At the beginning, the airline will carry out flights once a week and will increase their frequency to two times a week in summer.

In accordance with the agreement, WizzAir undertakes to carry out regular flights on this route throughout the whole year.

"Tickets are already on sale," said the CEO of WizzAir. "The cost of one-way tickets starts from 39.99 euros."

The flights will be carried out at night from Wednesday to Thursday, and from Sunday to Monday, he added.

The head of Ground Handling Company for his part said that the contract has been signed for the period till April 2019.

The flights will be carried out by Airbus planes.

Earlier, the WizzAir company two times started and carried out flights only in summer of 2013 and 2014. The company carried out a total of 143 flights two times a week from May 18 to Oct.25, 2014.
