The Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC has approved the schedule of regular ferry trips from the Baku International Sea Trade Port to the Kazakh port of Aktau, the company said Dec. 1.

The trips are planned to be made twice a week. The number of trips can be increased in case of great freight traffic.

These actions were taken in accordance with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's instructions to transport huge cargos from Turkey to Kazakhstan via the Caspian Sea at a high level, the statement said.

"Moreover, given the recent commissioning of a new logistics center in Aktau, the ferries transporting wheeled vehicles (trucks, buses, passenger cars) and railway wagons will operate on the Baku-Aktau route according to the approved regular schedule from December 1," the statement said. "The ferries will leave the port of Baku to enter Aktau at 12:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) on Tuesdays and Fridays, while from the port of Aktau to Baku - at 23:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours) on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The information on changes in the schedule of ferry trips due to the weather conditions will be distributed in advance."
