Azerbaijan reduces electricity export

Azerbaijan exported 263.32 million kilowatt hours of electricity according to the customs declarations in Jan.-Nov. 2015, compared to 544.6 million kilowatt hours exported in the same period in 2014, said the report issued by the country's State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan exported electricity valued at $15.66 million in Jan.-Nov. 2015, compared to $28.52 million in the same period in 2014.

This is while the country exported 588.32 million kilowatt hours of electricity according to the customs declarations in 2014, compared to over 595.67 million kilowatt hours in 2013.

Major electricity producer in Azerbaijan is Azerenerji JSC which has hundreds of substations and tens of power plants.

The generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power supply system has increased by 30 percent over the last five years. Currently, its capacity is 7,105 megawatt. This enables to generate around 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and export 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
