Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 26

By Anvar Mammadov - Trend:

The delay in cargo clearance at the Azerbaijani checkpoints is not related to the work of the customs bodies, Safar Mehdiyev, the first deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, told reporters Jan. 26.

He said that there are delays due to incomplete documentation, submitted by the entrepreneurs.

"All the delays occur because entrepreneurs do not submit all the necessary documents to the customs representatives or submit them late," he said. "If the documents are submitted in proper time and fully, no delays will be observed at the checkpoints."

Mehdiyev said that the measures have been recently taken at all customs checkpoints to facilitate the foreign trade and speed up cargo transportation.

"Earlier, the inspection of the cargo took 45-60 minutes before a single window system was applied," he said. "But now the inspection takes only 10-15 minutes after submitting all documents in proper time."
