Baku, Azerbaijan, March 31

By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

The 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is planned to be held in April-May 2016, Rufat Guliyev, Azerbaijani MP, head of the working group on Azerbaijan-Ukraine interparliamentary relations, told Trend March 31.

The meeting of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine intergovernmental commission should be a preparation for the official visit of Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko to Azerbaijan.

"The spring will be very intense [from the point of view of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations' development,]" said Guliyev.

"But in fact these processes [development of relations] have never stopped: every month the head of a Ukrainian structure visits Azerbaijan and vice versa," he noted adding that the two countries have good relations and they should be further developed.

Ukraine is Azerbaijan's important partner, according to MP.

"Today we had a meeting with Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan [Alexander Mishchenko], during which we discussed the development of relations between the countries," said Guliyev.

Azerbaijan and Ukraine have a common position on many issues on the international arena, according to him.

The last - 10th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in Kyiv in November 2013.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Ukraine was $333.15 million in 2015, according to Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee, which is almost by 30 percent less than in 2014.
