Kazakhstan increases output in metallurgy

The output in metallurgy increased in January-April 2016 in Kazakhstan, the Statistics Committee of the country's National Economy Ministry said May 18.

Crude steel production increased by 6.9 percent and stood at 1.32 million tons in January-April, flat bar production - 7.9 percent (853,690 tons), raw zinc - 1.4 percent (108,110 tons), refined raw copper - 5.2 percent (130,880 tons), raw aluminium and alumina - 4.4 percent (530,730 tons).

The ferroalloy production decreased by 2.3 percent and stood at 580,200 tons during the reporting period.

Kazakhstan's iron ore production decreased by 31.4 percent and stood at 10.89 million tons in January-April 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015. Copper ore production increased by 94.7 percent and totalled 21.84 million tons during the reporting period.
