Iran, China sign tourism MOU

Iran and China signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on tourism sector, IRNA reported May 19.

Iran's vice-president and head of the Cultural Heritage Organization, Massoud Soltanifar and Chairman of the China National Tourism Administration Li Jinzao signed the seven-article MOU, which covers the cooperation in marketing, advertisement, investment, service, security, training and exchange of knowledge and experience in tourism industry.

The MOU also stipulates cooperation within the 'Silk Way' tourism project.

The parties also agreed to prepare the ground for exchanging more tourists.

Iran's revenues from tourism sector over the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20) amounted to $8 billion, Soltanifar told Trend April 27.

Iran plans to lure 20 million tourists per year with an aim to generate $30 billion in revenue by 2025, added Soltanifar.
