Kazakhstan plans to complete reconstruction of the airport of its capital Astana in March 2017, Kazakh investment and development ministry reported on Oct.5.
The project envisages construction of a new terminal, reconstruction of the airport’s runway, construction of new VIP terminal, new parking areas, engineering infrastructure, reconstruction of the apron and landscaping. The construction has been finished by 58 percent.
The project will cost 60.2 billion tenge (333.59 tenge = $1).
Astana Airport’s passenger traffic hit almost 3.37 million people in 2015. The airport will be able to serve more than 7.5 million passengers per year after the reconstruction is completed.
