Azerbaijan and France discussed the issue of establishing joint ventures for corn production, viticulture and winemaking, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture said in a message Oct. 7.

According to the message, the discussions were held during the meeting between Ilham Guliyev, Azerbaijani deputy minister of agriculture, and the French delegation, headed by Nicolas Perrin, regional agriculture advisor.

Guliyev added that there is favorable situation in Azerbaijan for the production of clean agricultural products by French entrepreneurs.

In its turn, the French side made a number of proposals relating to the use of hybrid seeds for corn growing in Azerbaijan.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France amounted to 438.86 million manat (official exchange rate on Oct. 7 is 1.6036 AZN/USD) in January-August 2016. Some 344.8 million manat accounted for the export of Azerbaijani goods to France.
