Total assets of Uzbek banks increase by over 17%

Total assets of Uzbekistan's commercial banks stood at 76.7 trillion soms as of January-September 2016, said the message from the country's Central Bank.

Total assets of Uzbekistan's commercial banks stood at 76.7 trillion soms as of January-September 2016, said the message from the country's Central Bank. The total loan portfolio amounted to 50.7 trillion soms in the same period.

According to the message, the total assets of Uzbekistan's commercial banks amounted to 65.2 trillion soms as of 2015. This figure increased by 17.6 percent in 2016, as compared to 2015.

The total loan portfolio of the country's banks increased by 18.7 percent and reached up to 50.7 trillion soms compared to 42.7 trillion soms, the message said.

The total volume of deposits attracted by Uzbek banks reached 43.2 trillion soms as of early October compared to 35.6 trillion soms as of late 2015 (an increase by 21.4 percent), the message said.

According to the message, the total capital of banks increased to up to 8.9 trillion soms in January-September 2016 (an increase by 14.1 percent).

Currently, 26 commercial banks operate in Uzbekistan's banking system.

The official exchange rate on October 25 is 3063.96 soms/$1.
