Kazakhstan's IT, communication sectors attract more investments

The volume of investments in the information and communication industry of Kazakhstan amounted to 43.5 billion tenge, according to the results of the three quarters of 2017, Energy Prom Kazakhstan reported.

The mentioned result is 7 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year.

About two thirds of investments in the information and communication sector of the country accounts for Almaty and Astana cities.

Most of the investments were attracted to Almaty (20.4 billion tenge), the second and the third places in this ranking belong to Astana city (6.9 billion tenge) and Akmola region (3.2 billion tenge).

One of the key drivers of the information and communication sector of Kazakhstan is the state program "Digital Kazakhstan," which is currently being actively supported by the government.

Over 250 billion tenge is expected to be invested in digitalization and development of information and communication sector of Kazakhstan by 2021.

The speed of updating the material base of the sector has also increased during the 9 months of 2017. Buildings, machinery and equipment worth 30.5 billion were commissioned in 2017.
