Azerbaijan’s trade surplus revealed

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $9.05 billion in January-October 2017 that is by 25.7 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to a report of the country’s State Customs Committee.

The share of state sector in export totaled $7.2 billion, private sector – $1.69 billion, individuals – $161.83 million.

Azerbaijan mainly exported oil and oil products, gas, aluminum and aluminum products, as well as fruits and vegetables in January-October 2017.

During the period, import totaled nearly $6.96 billion, which is slightly more than in January-October 2016. Some $893.97 million accounted for the state sector share in import operations, and $5.69 billion – for the private sector, $370.49 million – for individuals.

Azerbaijan mainly imported various machines, vehicles, ferrous metals, plastic and timber during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 13.1 percent and amounted to $16.01 billion in January-October 2017, as compared to the same period of 2016. The surplus in the reporting period amounted to $2.1 billion, which is 8.8 times more than in the same period last year.
