The Czech Republic has been studying ways to conserve water resources and create artificial ponds since the 15th century and it is ready to share this experience with Azerbaijan, secretary for economic and commercial affairs at the Czech Embassy in Azerbaijan Jan Jindrich told Trend.

"We have rich experience in creating artificial ponds, providing water supply, which in turn is an important issue for Azerbaijan, since the local water sources mostly consist of mountain rivers with seasonal water reserves," Jindrich said.

He added that the Czech Republic offers Azerbaijan assistance in creation of a new system that would prevent droughts.

"This will help improve the system of agricultural irrigation as well as strengthen fish farming in the country. This is what Azerbaijan currently needs, and we will be happy to share our experience in preserving and creating new water resources," Jindrich said.

Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are actively boosting bilateral cooperation in a number of spheres, including energy, transport and agriculture.

The two countries’ trade turnover reached $924 million in 10 months of 2017, of which $846 million accounted for the export of Azerbaijani products to the Czech Republic, while the import of the Czech products by Azerbaijan totaled $78 million.
