Uzbekistan's enterprises produced industrial products worth 144.2 trillion soums in January-December, 2017, which is seven percent more than in 2016, according to preliminary data, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a message.
The main factor contributing to the growth of the total volume of industrial production was the increase in the processing industry by 6.4 percent (contribution to the increase in the total volume of industrial production 5.2 percentage points), mining and quarrying - by 12.9 percent (1.3 percentage points), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - by 4.9 percent (0.4 percentage points) and in water supply, sewerage, collection and disposal of waste by 13.5 percent (0.1 percentage points).
The volume of production produced by the processing enterprises amounted to 112.7 trillion soums, or 78.1 percent of the total volume, mining and quarrying - 18.3 trillion soums (12.7 percent), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - 12.1 trillion soums (8.4 percent) and water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal - 1.1 trillion soums (0.8 percent).
In the mining industry, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the extraction of crushed stone increased by 39.1 percent, gravels - 22.2 percent, coal - 4.4percent and natural gas - 0.5 percent, while oil production decreased by 6.3 percent percent.
In the manufacturing industry, production of cars increased by 58.1 percent, green tea - 21.9 percent, buses - 16.4 percent, trucks - 7.5 percent, vegetable oil - 5.4 percent, and production of granulated sugar fiber, diesel fuel and motor gasoline has significantly decreased compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
The expansion of the assortment and stimulation of output of finished goods affected the increase in the production of consumer goods compared to January-December 2016 (102.7 percent), the share of which in the volume of industrial production was 38.9 percent.
Currently, there are more than 49,000 industrial enterprises in the country, 10,200 of which were created in 2017.
