Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 24

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan will prepare new amendments to the legislation, which can provide entrepreneurs with certain privileges, a source in the government told Trend Jan. 24.

The new amendments will be prepared on the basis of proposals that were planned to be presented to the parliament in late 2017.

In late 2017, the Ministry of Taxes prepared a package of proposals for amending the tax legislation.

It was assumed that the amendments will be discussed at the parliament together with the state budget for 2018. However, in early December, Mikayil Jabbarov was appointed as new Minister for Taxes of Azerbaijan.

The source said that the new minister decided to revise the package of proposals.

“The original package of proposals was to toughen tax legislation for entrepreneurs, but currently, it is planned, on the contrary, to ease the tax burden on entrepreneurs, and, perhaps, to introduce new tax incentives for businesses,” said the source.

New amendments will be prepared in line with strategic road maps, added the source.

The 12 road maps adopted in December 2016 are designed to stimulate the growth of the national economy, and improve significantly the business climate in the country.

“Currently, the ministry is completing structural reforms. Then it is planned to view the general tax policy of the country and later, the preparation of tax reforms will begin,” said the source.
