Azerbaijan may get benefits when exporting goods to the EU member countries, Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry said in a message Jan. 31.

Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev discussed this issue in Baku with Henrik Hololei, the European Commission’s director general for mobility and transport.

Granting benefits to Azerbaijan is planned to be further discussed with representatives of the European Commission at the meetings in Brussels, scheduled for March.

As part of the March meetings, it is also planned to discuss attraction of European investments to Azerbaijan’s economy, expansion of cooperation in transportation, promotion of international transport projects, and other issues.

Hololei pointed to the rapid development of Azerbaijan and the country’s successful cooperation with the EU in energy and transportation. He said the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan fully meet global challenges.

According to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, trade turnover with the EU member countries amounted to $9.4 billion in 2017, 52.35 percent more than in 2016.

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $7.45 billion to the EU member countries in 2017.
