In January 2018, the Kazakh Interior Ministry registered 80,324 cars, which is 16 percent more than in January 2017, when 69,192 cars were registered, the Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business (AKAB) said in a message on Feb.5.
This is the best result recorded in January over the last three years, according to the AKAB.
"The traditional January recession compared to December 2017 was not so obvious - the level of vehicle registrations fell by only 10 percent. The figure usually was at the level of 35-40 percent," the message reads.
Out of the total number of registrations made in January 2018, 5,059 cars passed the initial registration, which is by 41 percent more than in January 2017, when 3,590 cars were registered.
The rest, that is 75,265 cars passed the re-registration. Almost 70 percent of the total number of registrations fell on cars manufactured before 2008 (52,210 cars).
In Kazakhstan, only 3 new cars are sold per 1,00p persons. Kazakhstan's indicators are almost 10 times lower than the average for Europe.
In January, the South Kazakhstan region became the leader for the number of registrations with 13,018 cars. Almaty region comes second with 11,610 registered cars .
The registration of vehicles covers the following types of vehicles: passenger cars (including commercial vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons), minibuses, buses (with more than 16 seats, not including the driver's seat), trucks (over 3.5 tons), trailers and semi-trailers.
