The revenues of Kazakh airlines from air transportation increased by 27 percent in 2017, and reached 295.6 billion tenge by the end of 2017, which is 12.5 percent of total revenues of the country’s transport companies (10.5 percent in 2016).
The official visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the US gave a new impetus to the development of air transport in Kazakhstan, Energy Prom reported.
Thus, Kazakh Air Astana and the American Air Lease Corporation signed an agreement, involving the operational leasing of 10 Airbus NEO aircraft.
In addition, Air Astana and International Aero Engines signed a memorandum of understanding, with the intention to conclude a contract for the purchase of Airbus NEO aircraft engines.
The passenger traffic of Kazakh airlines increased by 29.9 percent in 2017, to 14.4 billion passenger-kilometers.
The airline companies also gained profit from transportation of goods. The volume of goods transportation by the local airlines increased by 23.9 percent compared to 2016 (up to 22,500 tons). Freight turnover also increased by 24.1 percent compared to 2016 (53.3 million ton-kilometers).
