Further increasing entrepreneurship’s role in the national economy is determined as one of the key directions in the program for social and economic development of Turkmenistan for 2018-2024, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a government meeting, the Altyn Asyr TV channel reported Feb. 13.
Entrepreneurship is given a leading role in the transition to market economy, so it is important to create the most favorable conditions for functioning and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Turkmenistan, he added.
Practical actions in industry and agriculture should be directed both at import substitution and accelerated development of production using qualitatively new technologies, he said.
That is, these actions should be directed not only at solving the current tasks, but also to ensure Turkmenistan’s economic and food security in the future, Berdimuhamedov noted.
