Azerbaijan is offering to simplify the passage of export products across the border within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and GUAM, Azexport portal manager Zaur Gardashev told reporters on Feb.14.
Gardashev said the digital trading hub of Azerbaijan is aimed at implementing not only local projects, but also regional ones.
"Relevant proposals on the possibility of using a single electronic environment to facilitate the passage of export products across the border have been submitted to the European Union for consideration of a possible cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, as well as GUAM member countries," Gardashev said.
The newly-presented electronic service will be supplemented in the future with new modules that simplify the passage of export products across the border, according to him.
Gardashev said one of the innovations will be a mobile application that provides detailed information about the manufacturer and product characteristics via reading the barcode.
"In the next stages we plan to integrate the system with the customs services of neighboring countries. As of today, bulk of the services in Azerbaijan are transformed into electronic form, thus, the Azerbaijani products cross the border without any complications. However, for example, when exporting products to the Russian market, the Russian side requires the relevant paper documents. Theretofore, to ensure that entrepreneur do not face problems, we are now forced to work in parallel with paper carriers," he said.
