Kazakhstan increases export of agricultural products to China

Kazakhstan increased export of agricultural products to China by 30 percent in 11 months of 2017, compared to the same period in 2016, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Rustem Kurmanov at a meeting of the board of the ministry.

"In 11 months of 2017, our agricultural exports increased by 10 percent. We also expand the geography of exports. The Chinese market is, currently, open for fish products, sheep, beekeeping, wheat and soybeans," Kurmanov said, Kazakh media outlets reported.

He added that production of food products to Kazakhstan’s internal market covered more than 80 percent of demand.

Kurmanov also stressed that in order to increase the efficiency of processing agricultural products, the Ministry proposes to apply the model of anchor agricultural cooperation in large enterprises.

"In the agricultural processing industry of the country, production of cereal increased by 23 percent, production of canned vegetables - by 16 percent, vegetable oil - by 15 percent and canned meat - by 12 percent. In 2017, the share of meat processing was 32 percent (in 2016, the figure was 31.3 percent) of the total processing of agricultural products, milk - 30 percent (in 2016 the figure was 27 percent). At the same time, there is a decrease in sugar production by 20 percent, and sausages by 3.1 percent," Kurmanov added.
