Uzbekistan Airways to expand geography of flights

Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carrier of Uzbekistan, plans to inaugurate a number of new destinations and increase the frequency of current flights during the summer schedule period.

Starting May 24, 2018 the airline will operate direct flights to Barcelona, Spain once a week. Also, Uzbekistan Airways is planning to operate direct flights to Mumbai, India during the summer schedule period.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan Airways is increasing its current frequency of flights. The number of flights to New York will be increased to three weekly flights, to Istanbul from 7 to 10 flights, to Seoul - from 3 to 4 flights, and to Novosibirsk - up to three flights per week.

Presently, Uzbekistan Airways operates regular flights to more than 40 cities of Europe and Asia.

Uzbekistan Airways is wholly owned by the state and has 11 airports located on the territory of Uzbekistan, six of which are international. The company has representative offices in 25 countries.

Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carrier of Uzbekistan, transported more than 2.703 million passengers in 2017. In 2016, 2,471 million passengers used the services of the national air carrier of Uzbekistan.

Last year, Uzbekistan Airways performed 22,950 flights compared to 22,387 flights in 2016.

Overall, the company transported 48,900 tons of cargo, including paid luggage and mail, in 2017, which is more by 11.6 percent compared to 2016. Then, the airline transported 43,800 tons of cargo, including toll paid luggage and mail.
