Turkey increases exports, imports in January 2018

Turkey’s exports in January 2018 increased by 10.7 percent, while imports grew 38 percent, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a message Feb. 28.

In January 2018, Turkey’s exports amounted to $12.4 billion, while imports stood at $21.5 billion.

During the reporting period, the share of Turkey’s exports to the EU member countries amounted to 52.3 percent of the total value of Turkey’s exports.

“Germany ranks first among the EU member countries where Turkey supplied the goods,” the report noted. “For the reporting period, goods worth $1.34 billion were exported to Germany.”

Turkey imported goods from China worth $2.1 billion in January 2018.

In January 2018, Turkey imported goods worth $2.4 billion from Russia, the report said.

This is while Turkey imported goods worth $1.6 billion from Germany, and the goods worth $1.1 billion were imported by Turkey from the US in January 2018, the report noted.
