Turkmenistan plans to produce about 82,500 tons of rice in 2018, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a relevant decree on rice production.
The document says it is planned to sow rice in an area of 18,300 hectares in the Dashoguz and Lebap provinces of Turkmenistan in 2018.
High-quality seed sorts, Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga are cultivated here.
Rice is rich with carbohydrates and is considered one of the main food products in Central and South-East Asia.
