Egg production grows in Turkey

In February 2018, 1.6 billion eggs were produced in Turkey, which is 3.7 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a message April 16.

Egg production decreased 8.4 percent in February 2018 compared to January 2018, according to the message.

In February 2018, 94 million birds were used for the production of chicken meat, which is 5.2 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the message said.

“In February 2018, 493,000 birds were used for the production of turkey meat, which is 74.3 percent more than in the same month of 2017,” the message noted.

As many as 166,590 tons of chicken meat were consumed in Turkey in February 2018, which is 7.8 percent more than in February 2017, the message said.

“The turkey consumption stood at 4,647 tons in the country in February 2018, which is 91.9 percent more than in the same month of 2017, the message noted.
