Kazakhstan’s foreign trade with EEU countries increases

The value of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in January-February 2018 amounted to $2.6 billion, which is 6.1 percent more than in the same period of 2017, the statistics committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan said in a message.

In particular, the volume of Kazakhstan’s exports to the EEU countries in the reporting period amounted to $839 million (7.9 percent more than in January 2018), imports - $1.7 billion (5.3 percent more than in January 2018).

In the total volume of Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover with the EEU countries, Russia accounts for 91.6 percent, Kyrgyzstan - 4.5 percent, Belarus - 3.8 percent, and Armenia - 0.1 percent.

The agreement on Kazakhstan's accession to the EEU entered into force on January 1, 2015.

The idea of ​​Eurasian economic integration was put forward by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in 1994. The negotiations, coordination of numerous details, as well as, solutions to relevant problems in creation of the union have taken practically 20 years.
